Shocked to realise that this may have been sitting in the unread books pile for nearly a decade!
(Very good it was too)

Recently, I have mostly been listening to...
"A Taste of 2009's End Of The Road Festival" Compilation from the final Plan B magazine. (Final + End Of The Road - possibly just a coincidence). Disappointingly for a magazine that varied the content such that I loved or hated the discs, this was just dull. Oh well.

The Old Dance School
For why I bought the ticket. And very good they were again. Purchased the ep to complete the collection. (I had thought that they were the main band, but they were only the first) and there were also
The Toy Hearts
described on the flyer as "Brummie Bluegrass" and very good they were too. Purchased a CD in the interval as well as one for the final band
The Destroyers
who turned out to be something of an acquired taste. Perhaps viewed as theatre rather than music makes for better entertainment (will be an interesting CD I'm sure)

Every so often a book liberated from the "as yet unread" collection makes me wonder why on earth I waited so long before reading it. This was one such.

From the "I've had the cassette for 20 years" file and then I saw this at a dirt cheap price just before Zavvi closed...
The deluxe is due to the extra live album CD that comes with. Excellent. 8/10

Maiden Voyage
Big dumb fun. Check your brain in at the door or the internal inconsistencies may annoy.
But still big dumb fun, with just a few pieces missing the mark (Scotty in the pipes, cutesy sidekick - are two that spring to mind).
Most importantly, it was not poor.
So - not bad - 7/10
